Working with Beata T Zygarlowska – Client Experiences

With over 25 years’ experience, I have worked with private clients, institutions, and developers across Norfolk and East Anglia on a range of projects, including listed building restorations, sustainable retrofits, contemporary new builds, and sensitive conversions.

What clients value most is clear communication, practical problem solving and attention to detail, whether we’re restoring a barn or designing an energy-efficient home in a conservation area. The feedback below reflects the collaborative, trusted partnership I bring to every project.

Heritage / Dwelling / Listed Building

John Loker, Client /
Kenigshall, Norfolk

I am currently redesigning workshops, studios and living spaces which constitute the interior of a large Victorian workhouse. This also necessitates exterior changes, a glass access corridor and atrium. A very complex project. Beata has been involved from the beginning and has been invaluable as this is a conservation area and it is essential to retain the feel and integrity of the building she has been integral to the the initial stages, obtaining planning permission, structural calculations and dealing with the local council.
I think I chose the best when I chose Isle Architects, she has shown such enthusiasm for the project and is great to have around. I am feeling confident and excited in the future of the project with Beata in control.

Beata did an excellent job for us with building regulations and discharging Listed Building caonditions. It proved a good choice and she ironed out any problems with ease. Very pleased we used her business, would highly recommend !

Private Residential/ Dwelling / House Alterations

Richard Short and Sophie Costello / Clients, Cambridge

"Beata took the time to understand the brief on our project and then designed imaginative enhancements to our home, both inside and outside, that stayed true to the unusual style of the original build while also meeting the functional needs of a large family. We are delighted with the results."

Heritage - Private Residential/ Dwelling / Listed Building

Adam Challis / Client

"Beata was a pleasure to work with on our house. She understood our vision and translated it into a deliverable project which won the support of planners, with some helpful additions that improved the design."

Institutional, Education/ Cambridge

Cherie Evans, CEO, Rowan Humberstone / previously Clare Hall, Cambridge

"Beata is a talented and skilled architect. She can produce something both beautiful and practical, and that is a rare gift. Although the work she did for the College was several years ago, I have been following her career with interest and wish her the best of luck launching her own firm."

“We have worked with Beata Zygarlowska, Principal Architect.  Beata has been our Architect for a number of years we have always found her company to be innovative, prompt and thorough. In all our work her site visits checking the work of builders has been very thorough which we appreciate. Her patience and diligence with planning departments have removed much stress.”

Heritage - Institutional / Listed Building

Claude Warnick, Cambridge University Catholic Association and Chaplaincy / Client, Cambridge

"Beata has been closely involved with Fisher House for over a decade. Most recently, Beata helped Fisher House with a project to make sound a sagging roof in our timber framed building and to renovate the interior of the attic rooms at the same time. She helped us navigate all the various stages of the project, from investigating the problem, identifying the remedial works, obtaining permissions, tendering for a contractor and overseeing the works. At all times she kept us fully informed about what was going on, and was always quick to respond to any questions. The process went smoothly and we are very happy with the results. We would recommend her services without reservation."

Commercial - Conversion / New Build

Anthony Ley, Client / London and Norfolk

I have worked with Beata for many years on several projects. She successfully guided a double-story extension and complete refurbishment through the planning process, creating a wonderful modern living space that doubled the size of our original home. Her attention to detail and excellent aesthetic understanding really is quite refreshing. Beata carefully listened, delivering our vision without drama and was reassuringly available to assist throughout.
Beata is now working with us on a large period property that will be a project managed over several years. Her broad understanding of historic buildings, combined with an equal passion for modern design, presents us with numerous new possibilities. I would highly recommend Beata.

Extension to Existing House

Stephen Rampton/ Client / Private

Great work drawing up plans for a downstairs bathroom extension. Professional and efficient.

Private Residential / Dwelling / New Build

Prof Geoff Moggridge,  / Client
Cambridge

"Beata was the architect for the building of our family home, in the centre of Cambridge.  It was a challenging project – the site was in a conservation area; with a long and controversial planning history and significant local opposition; partly in a flood plain; with significant financial constraints; and an unusual and modern design.  Beata was a pleasure to work with, always receptive to the client’s wishes, but also willing to point out opportunities for improvement.  Beata combined a strong aesthetic overview of the project with impressive attention to detail and also understood the importance both of a beautiful building and a practical one to live in.  We have now lived in the house for 12 years and it remains a joy to live in.  I recommend Beata unreservedly."
