FEASIBILITY
Initial investigation
This is an ideal opportunity to work with the client to determine your needs and answer your initial questions. I would investigate and evaluate the potential of a site or building. Study the history of the site, its overall condition and its significance. This process develops various options and ideas, I look at constraints and opportunities with regard to planning restrictions and provide a preliminary estimate of the costs involved in proposed works.
DESIGN
Architectural vision
With an understanding of the client's needs, I am committed to providing the very best solutions in an efficient and cost-effective way. My approach is to deliver to our clients a project that works for them, that is both aesthetic and achievable. I design places for people to live, work, play, and enjoy. I believe that in good architecture, there is an opportunity to improve the lives of individuals and make society more sustainable.
HERITAGE
Cultural environment
Historic buildings require skills and expertise beyond normal architectural services. I am an accredited RIBA Conservation Architect with the necessary knowledge and 20 years of experience.
Are you considering repairs, conversion, extension or upgrading of a historic building? Have you purchased a Listed Building, and you are not certain if you need Listed Building Consent? Get in touch! I will guide you through the whole process, also providing a Heritage Statement for Listed Buildings and Historic Impact Assessments to support your application.
PLANNING
National and Local
I provide support and guidance for every aspect of the planning process. Engaging with the Local Authorities early in the process, I develop a local and national design that satisfies both you and the planning policies. Our flexible approach increases the chance of a successful application. My experience will save you money, time and effort. I advise on all types of planning applications, from Homeowner's applications to full planning applications, Listed building Consent, change of use, conversions, commercial developments, Class Q etc.
BUILDING REGULATIONS
Works involving changes to the new and existing buildings will require Building Control approval. You must check if you need approval before constructing or changing buildings in specific ways. Various regulations apply to different aspects and types of projects. I will guide you through the maze of regulations. Get in touch to discuss it.
PROJECT ADMINISTRATION
The architect carries out administrative work relating to the construction of buildings and follows the principles of a building contract. I advise on the most appropriate form of contract and administrate it during the time on site.
